Craft Mafia has strong roots in the DIY world
The first Craft Mafia™ was founded in 2003 by nine crafty business women in Austin, Texas.
Since that time, Craft Mafias™ have popped up across the globe.
Craft Mafias™ have been featured in nurmerous local, regional, and national magazines
and several mafiosas are
hosts of or have participated in DIY Network TV shows.

Lubbock Takes a Look
In April 2006, Faux Real Art Studio was born at 19th Street and Upland to
provide a creative space for people to practise and learn contemporary arts and crafts.
Maxine (crafter and exhibitor) asked Sandy (art studio owner) what she thought
about being a Craft Mafia™ affiliate. Sandy began researching the possibility at that time.

We apply
As other Lubbock designers and artists found Faux Real Art Studio an anchor point
for gathering, creating, teaching and brainstorming, we realized that we did want
the addtitional marketing and networking benefits of being in the Craft Mafia™.
